Steelite International Chief Executive meets HRH Prince Charles

24 May 2013

Steelite International’s Queen’s Award win, plans to create jobs at our headquarters and our commitment to the local community were all on the agenda when Chief Executive Kevin Oakes met with HRH Prince Charles recently.

The Prince was visiting Stoke-on-Trent to showcase the work of his flagship charity The Prince’s Regeneration Trust which has transformed Steelite’s neighbour ,the historic Middleport Pottery.

Explained Chief Executive Kevin Oakes: ‘His Royal Highnesses charity has developed strong links with our home town of Burslem, and we have been delighted to support him in his ambition to inspire the whole community to raise its aspirations.

“We have been closely involved in pioneering the Prince’s innovative Industrial Cadets scheme at our factory and His Royal Highness was interested to hear about the local youngsters’ success as well as initiatives which have seen us support the local community, such as our recent sponsorship of a music festival in Burslem.

“We also spoke about our recent Queen’s Award for Industry, our plans to create hundreds of new jobs with the expansion of our factory and our plans to support the forthcoming British Ceramics Biennial by opening our factory in early October. “

“We were also delighted to provide The Co-operative Academy with a whole range of new crockery to ensure the Royal party were served on the very best of Stoke-on-Trent’s ceramic ware.”
